The Ericeira and Lisbon area has great trails for lovers of hiking. Discovering nature by foot is a great way to take in all that nature has to offer. Luckily, not far from Olá Onda Guesthouse, you’ll find plenty of spectacular hiking opportunities.
National Park Sintra-Cascais
With it’s lush nature, castles, mountains, big boulders and great views the national park of Sintra and Cascais is one of the most beautiful places around. The highest point is Cruz Alta at 528 meters from where you have a spectacular view of the colorful Palace (Palacio Nacional da Pena), the surrounding land, the coastline and ocean.
Tapada de Mafra
Just outside of Mafra (15 minute drive from Ericeira) you’ll find 819 hectares of nature park: Tapada de Mafra. Different hiking trails are indicated, from 4 kilometers to 8,5. Along these hikes you will see cork trees older than 100 years, deer, wild boar, foxes and many different bird species. For more information, check out the official website of Tapada de Mafra.
Serra de Montejunto
In this park you’ll find total peace. There’s not many people visiting the Serra de Montejunto, so you can still go here and enjoy the views on your own. There are no trails indicated with signs or maps and there is no tourist office. Just you and your adventure. Don’t miss the ancient windmills!
