Type

Mostly beachbreaks, and some reefbreaks north of Baleal. Very good for beginner and intermediate surfers.

Works best with

Wind from the east, north and north-east and swell from the (north or south)west at all tides.

Crowd

Can be pretty crowded, especially in summertime.

Peniche is, just like Ericeira, a surfers heaven. Because of the way the coast is formed, there is always a spot to surf with every swell and wind direction, for all levels. Also Baleal and Ferrel, just north of Peniche, have very nice beaches for surfing. There are many places to rent a surfboard or arrange surflessons.
